Dailycsr.com – 26 June 2019 – At the headquarters of Centennial, Colo., Arrow Electronics organised a “robotics workshop” with the aim of helping the “local Girl Scouts in 4th and 5th grade” to get their badge for “Designing Robots”.
The programme was organised for teaching the process of building “robot prototypes” under the guidance of Arrow employees coming from various “departments and business units”. The said event was attended by twenty Girl Scouts members. In the words of the Community Partnerships Manager for “Girl Scouts of Colorado”, Aimee Artzer:
“We are grateful to all the Arrow employees who gave up a Saturday to help young girls gain hands-on robotics experience and widen their knowledge about STEM (Science Technology, Engineering and Math) careers”.
Arrow has made a commitment of educating and training young women as girls in the field of STEM. In fact, it had also collaborated earlier with “Girl Scouts of Colorado” for helping their members to get “technology-oriented badges”. Moreover, Arrow is also one of the sponsors for “Girls and Science” annual event, an education programme organised by the “Denver Museum of Nature and Science” which aims to “inspire girls to pursue STEAM careers”.
Furthermore, Arrow employees’ volunteering hours through “Dollars for Doers program” of the company was translated into matching donation amount to the “Girl Scouts of Colorado”.
