Dailycsr.com – 31 May 2020 – International Paper has made a donation to Team Rubicon, the latter being a non-profit which is at present operating the “Greater Chicago Food Depository” in Chicago. The former donated ten thousand “corrugated boxes” for packing personal protection equipment that are to be distributed across the city in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Team Rubicon is dedicated to the service of the community, whereby it mobilises veterans for continuance of their service using their “skills and experience” to aid people better response and recover from “disasters and humanitarian crises”. On a daily basis, the group is packing one thousand boxes and distributing the same number. In the words of the “Team Rubicon Midwest Territory Planner and Current Team Leader” for “Chicago United Center”, Maggi Thomas:
“International Paper’s donation of cardboard boxes has been an integral part of Team Rubicon (TR) operations at the United Center. The boxes have allowed us to prepare and distribute thousands of supplies within the City of Chicago of which a large majority have been sent to under-served/underfunded organizations. Utilizing the boxes, we have been able to establish pick-up and delivery days with over 100 organizations per week.”
International Paper is one of the global leaders to produce “renewable, fiber-based packaging, pulp and paper”, whereby the company is acting on facilitating the critical community needs wherein the employees of International Paper continue to dwell and work through the “unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic”. Moreover, in a recent commitment, the company has announced to “donate two million boxes for pandemic relief”.
