PSE&G Installs 2M+ Smart Meters for Better Energy Management
PSE&G has achieved a significant milestone by installing over 2 million smart meters as part of its Smart Meter Program. This initiative is designed to enhance customer insights and improve outage recovery times. Over the course of this multi-year project, PSE&G has replaced traditional electric meters with advanced smart meters for both residential and business customers.

“This marks an important step toward providing an improved customer experience by empowering our customers with better tools to understand and manage their energy usage,” said Dave Johnson, vice president of Customer Care and Chief Customer Officer.

“With over 110 million smart meters already in use across the U.S., we are proud to contribute to this national effort. This advancement gives consumers valuable data to make informed decisions about their energy consumption.”

Advanced Technology and Benefits
The smart meters are part of PSE&G's Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), which integrates the meters with the company’s system-monitoring and customer applications. These smart meters will provide several benefits over time, including:
  • Real-time and detailed updates on power usage.
  • Greater billing accuracy by minimizing estimated bills.
  • Faster and more efficient power restoration after outages, with improved tools for identifying outage locations and deploying repair crews effectively.
MyMeter Online Portal
To complement the smart meters, PSE&G offers MyMeter, an online platform that gives customers an intuitive way to monitor their electricity usage. Through MyMeter, customers can:
  • Track electricity consumption in intervals ranging from 15 minutes to monthly.
  • Set energy-use thresholds and receive alerts when usage exceeds those limits.
  • Access energy-saving tips and set personalized goals to reduce consumption.
  • Complete an online Home Energy Assessment for tailored recommendations.
This program represents PSE&G’s commitment to leveraging technology to enhance service reliability and empower customers with greater control over their energy use.
