Thanks to UnitedHealthCare’s employees and 200 resident-participants from the Colorado Spring area, children will have a new playground facility at the El Pomar Boys & Girls Club, located in the Pikes Peak Region.
Measuring a neat 2400 square feet, the playground will include a Tree Climber, Cozy Cocoon, Tic-Tac-Toe and lots more. It is interesting to note that the design of the playground is based on the drawings created by children from El Pomar Boys & Girls Club who joyfully participated in a “design day” event during June this year. Thanks to the new playground this year, more than 250 children can have a gala time playing in safe and modern environment in Colorado Springs this year.
Volunteers will be working with a national non-profit-organisation, KaBOOM! and together they will create and help build an active balanced life for children. This will be KaBOOM!’s 2,643rd playground that it has organized and built. Since 1996, KaBOOM! Has partnered with UnitedHealthCare and have co-organised and created 17 such playgrounds.
“We’re incredibly grateful to UnitedHealthcare, KaBOOM! and all the volunteers for their help in bringing the joy of play to our Club. We’re thrilled to have this new, beautiful playground that will benefit hundreds of children for years to come,” said James Sullivan, president and CEO, Boys & Girls Clubs of the Pikes Peak Region.
Tim Ray, the Midwest sub-region’s VP of UnitedHealthcare Military & Veterans, said, “UnitedHealthcare is honored to help build a playground with a nonprofit partner who has a strong track record of serving military families. We believe the new playground at the El Pomar Boys & Girls Club will help inspire these children to participate in healthy activities by playing and exercising outdoors.”
This playground will be part of UnitedHealthCare’s “Do Good. Live Well ” program. The “Do Good. Live Well” is an employee-volunteer initiative designed to help prevent obesity.
UnitedHealthcare serves more than 1.1 million people across Colorado through its Medicare and TRICARE businesses. UnitedhealthCare has a network of 107 hospitals and more than 20,300 physicians and health care providers statewide.
