Ameriprise Financial grants $100,000 to US the Wounded Warrior Project

06/01/2015

Ameriprise Financial has granted $100,000 to the Wounded Warrior Project®, the bulk of which will go to WWP’s Warrior to Work® Program.

Being a proud and patriotic American company, Ameriprise Financial, Inc. has decided to support to lend its weight behind members of the US armed forces by giving a generous grant of $100,000 to the Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP). This amount will be utilized in the Warrior to Work® program, which provides services as well as career guidance to WWP alumni who are transitioning from the military to civilian life.

The Wounded Warrior Project ® aims to empower and honour America’s wounded warriors. So as to raise awareness and draw further attention to these injured service personnel, WWP has created a system wherein injured service personnel can assist and aid each other either directly or through the program such that their needs are adequately met and satisfied. Headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida, WWP is a non-partisan national organization.

In 2015, the Wounded Warrior Project aims to provide employment to 2500 wounded service members, after assessing their skills. Its goal is to give employment to more than 10,000 wounded veterans by 2017.

“Our brave service men and women have made many sacrifices and risked their lives to protect our country,” said Brian Pietsch who is heading the community relations at Ameriprise. “Wounded Warrior Project has an unwavering commitment to support those who have served. We fully stand behind their mission and are proud to fund a program that helps wounded veterans find fulfilling work as civilians.”

Peter Gaytan, WWP’s vice president of economic empowerment says, “While the term ‘wounded’ is routinely associated with visible injuries, many warriors suffer from and are challenged by the invisible wounds of war. The Warriors to Work program is important to our veterans who need extra support to find meaningful work that allows them to use the skills they acquired during their service. We’re grateful to receive a grant from Ameriprise to help make this program possible.”

This new philanthropic drive goes a long way to support Ameriprise Financial’s pledge to employ veterans through the 100,000 Job Mission in which a coalition of companies have firmly committed to hiring veterans. This grant to WWP not only satisfies its earlier commitments but also suits its volunteer support and financial programs that help people meet their basic needs, such as shelter, hunger and being self-supportive.
