Yum China, the leading restaurant corporation in China, is dedicated to prioritizing ‘People First’, one of its fundamental principles, and strives to meet the expectations of its key stakeholders. With a workforce of over 400,000 individuals throughout China, Yum China aims to foster an accessible, welcoming, and diverse work environment for all. In line with this pledge, Yum China achieved its goal in 2022 of assigning more than 1.5% of its full-time roles to individuals with disabilities, backed by several initiatives aimed at providing career prospects and a platform for societal integration for everyone.
Marking its 10th year in 2022, the “Angel Restaurants” scheme is among Yum China’s most ambitious projects. It was initiated primarily to assist employees with disabilities in acquiring new vocational skills. In 2022, Yum China reinforced its dedication to this scheme by improving its “Angel Restaurant” facilities to better cater to the specific requirements of employees with disabilities. The restaurants were fitted with advanced visual aids to enhance communication, and tailored visual learning resources were introduced to improve the workspace.
Over the past ten years, Yum China has set up 30 Angel Restaurants in 27 cities, offering employment assistance to more than 2,000 people with disabilities.
