Otis Brazil's São Bernardo do Campo Factory Achieves ISO 45001 Certification for Occupational Health and Safety

07/24/2024

Otis Brazil’s facility in São Bernardo do Campo has recently achieved ISO 45001 certification, an international standard that outlines the requirements and best practices for effective occupational health and safety management systems. Otis Brazil is a branch of Otis (NYSE: OTIS), a global leader in the manufacture, installation, and service of elevators and escalators.

The ISO 45001 standard was developed to mitigate factors that can lead to workplace accidents, injuries, and illnesses, while also providing a framework for the continuous improvement of occupational health and safety management systems. With this recent certification, Otis now has 13 out of its 17 factories certified under ISO 45001.

"Safety is a fundamental principle at Otis, along with our core values of Ethics and Quality. This certification is a reflection of our dedication to ensuring a safe and healthy working environment for our employees and visitors," stated Adriana Gonsalves, Senior Manager of Environment, Health, and Safety (EH&S) for Otis in Latin America.

Otis operates management systems in accordance with ISO 14001 for environmental management, ISO 50001 for energy management, and ISO 45001 for occupational health and safety management. The São Bernardo do Campo factory received ISO 14001 certification in 2021, aligning with Otis’ environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goal of certifying all factories under ISO 14001 by 2025. Otis achieved this goal ahead of schedule in 2021, showcasing their commitment to effective environmental management across their facilities.
